Classical Chinese Acupuncture
This is a classical style of acupuncture, pre-dating by centuries the present dominant style of TCM, a product of the People’s Republic of China. Classical Acupuncture involves complex, comprehensive treatment strategies which are intended to treat the constitutional and core roots of disease and disharmony.

Chinese Herbs
Using a vast array of prepared Chinese formulae and individualized special formulae, Peaceful Spirit Acupuncture has all your herbal needs on hand. Pills, capsules, infusions, tinctures, and teas, ointments, and liniments are some of the time-honored methods used to deliver these medicinals.

Moxibustion
It consists of burning an herb, Ai Ye, or wormwood, on or near the site of an acupuncture point. Most commonly, it is burned on the handle of an inserted needle. This ancient practice is as old as acupuncture or older. This technique is so integral to Chinese medicine that the word for the practice of acupuncture in Chinese contains the words for both needle and wormwood.

Chinese Dietary Therapy
The three free therapies known to all in Chinese society are rest, exercise, and diet. Sadly, in our rapidly moving society, a healthy diet often takes a back seat to fast and junk food. Many in Western society have little knowledge of the incredible applications that common foods possess for a wide variety of disorders. At Peaceful Spirit, we place individual emphasis on both which foods to avoid and those that are actually beneficial for each client’s complaint.

Infra-Red Heat Therapy
Generally speaking, heat therapy is applied in conditions of weakness or deficiency. A substitute for moxibustion when a larger area needs treatment, a heat lamp which emits VFIR (Very Far Infra-Red) therapeutic heat through a mineral plate comprised of 33 trace elements which assist the body in healing.

Cupping
This technique employs glass cups which are heated briefly to create a partial vacuum, and then quickly placed over the area to be treated. This slightly pulls the flesh up into the cup, which draws stagnant circulation, in the form of mild redness, to the surface, where it is more easily dispersed.

Gua Sha
Gua Sha is a scraping technique, using a smooth-edged tool and liniment to effect much the same results as cupping, but over a larger area.

Again, generally speaking, these procedures are required in conditions of stagnation and excess.

Tui Na
One of the oldest massage systems in the world, Tui Na has a vast array of techniques to assist the acupuncturist in bringing relief to the client. It is mostly used as an additional tool in an acupuncture session, either prior to or at the conclusion of a treatment.

Tai Ji Quan
This ancient martial art is practiced by millions in the world. By moving slowly and deliberately, the client is able to gradually overcome the physical limitations of disharmony and age. On another level, slow movement allows the Tai Ji practitioner to connect with his or her internal qi, which is the purpose of techniques such as Yoga, meditation, Tai Ji, and acupuncture. Many historical Chinese scholars have observed that practicing Tai Ji is similar to performing acupuncture on one’s self. Tai Ji is taught at Peaceful Spirit on an individual basis; watch for regular classes to begin in fall.

Qi Gong
Older than many Chinese disciplines, Qi Gong is extremely varied and wide-ranging. Basically, it is a moving meditative practice. Because of its age, many styles and schools exist. Qi Gong techniques are taught at Peaceful Spirit to clients on an individual basis.
